Mpigi District, Uganda – In the lush hills of Mpambire Village, something remarkable is growing — and it’s more than just coffee.
We’ve all heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” But when it comes to securing a good harvest, it also takes an informed, united community. That’s exactly what the farmers of Mpambire Village in Mpigi Town Council are proving, one planting season at a time.
Recently, local farmers — the majority of whom are dedicated coffee growers — came together to evaluate the past season, identify key challenges, and forge better strategies for the future. At the top of their list? Combating the destructive black coffee twig borer, a pest that threatens not only crops but the livelihoods of entire families.
United Against a Common Threat
Black coffee twig borer is a tough adversary, but it’s no match for a determined community. Recognizing that isolated efforts weren’t enough, farmers in Mpambire embraced collective action — joining hands to learn, share, and act together.
With the support of trusted partners and suppliers, SYOVA SEED (U) LTD and FARM SOLUTIONS AFRICA, the community received more than just advice — they received a full-circle solution, from seed to harvest.
Through a series of hands-on training sessions, farmers learned how to identify pest infestations early, apply eco-friendly control measures, and strengthen their crop management systems. They explored techniques for improving soil health, increasing yields, and ensuring that every planting season builds on the lessons of the last.
The Power of Shared Knowledge
The result? Empowerment. Not just for individual farmers, but for the entire community. As one farmer noted during the review, “When we learn together, we grow together.”
It’s a simple idea with profound results: an informed farmer is a resilient farmer. But when knowledge is shared across the community, resilience multiplies. Every training, every solution discussed, every strategy applied — it adds another layer of strength to the village.

And that strength is already bearing fruit — literally. Fields are healthier, harvests are more consistent, and farmers feel more confident in their ability to tackle whatever comes next.
Planting Seeds for the Future
None of this would be possible without collaboration. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to SYOVA SEED (U) LTD and FARM SOLUTIONS AFRICA for standing with us — not just as suppliers, but as partners in growth.
Together, we’re not only fighting pests — we’re building a future where farmers are better informed, better equipped, and better connected.
In Mpambire Village, farming is no longer a solitary pursuit. It’s a community journey, rooted in shared knowledge, mutual support, and a shared commitment to resilience.
After all, it takes a village — not just to raise a child, but to grow a future.
