At this year’s NAMPO Harvest Day 2025, NMI reinforced its standing as a leading importer of premium agricultural equipment by launching the Sitrex WR 3100 bale wrapper—a first in its bale handling lineup.
With years of experience in supplying Sitrex haymaking equipment, including disc mowers, tedders, and rakes, NMI’s latest addition completes their full-service offering to farmers looking for reliable and high-performance bale production solutions.
“Our goal is to become a one-stop shop for all a farmer’s bale making needs,” said Daniel Dames, Business Manager at NMI.
The Sitrex WR 3100 is a high-end, computer-controlled bale wrapper designed for optimal efficiency and reduced human error. Its automation capabilities enable seamless switching between wrapping operations, ensuring consistency and precision—an essential feature for maintaining the integrity of silage.
“Errors in the wrapping process can lead to air being trapped in the bales, creating the risk of mould and reduced silage quality,” Dames explained. “That’s a risk we aim to eliminate.”
Engineered for heavy-duty use, the WR 3100 can handle bales weighing up to 900kg. A key safety design is its low-ground discharge system, which ensures bales land securely on their flat side after wrapping.

Durable Solutions: Bunning Lowlander Muck Spreaders
Another highlight in NMI’s machinery portfolio is the Bunning Lowlander Widebody muck spreader, a UK-manufactured solution ideal for mixed farming operations. Available in the Widebody 150 and 180 variants, these spreaders are well-known for their robust construction and reliability.
One of the larger models in the range, the Widebody 380 HD, even gained fame on a BBC Top Gear episode where it was used to shred a Volvo S460. The car was obliterated, while the spreader emerged with only minimal wear—an impressive testament to its build quality.
The Widebody 180, with its 18m³ capacity, features an adjustable outlet, making it versatile enough for spreading lime in addition to manure.
High-Capacity Feed Mixing: The Storti Advantage
NMI also showcased their range of Storti feed mixers, which have gained popularity for their efficiency in handling livestock feeding operations.
At the top of the range is the Storti Dunker R2S 180, equipped with a vertical mixing system and capable of blending up to 18m³ of feed—perfectly suited for beef cattle operations.
For dairy producers and smaller herds, the Storti Husky MT50 offers a 5m³ capacity and features a uniquely designed paddle auger that cuts and mixes forage into uniform rations. Its design supports improved digestion and feed consistency for ruminants.
Both models include integrated weighing cells and programmable controls, enabling up to five different feed recipes to be stored and used as needed.
Looking Ahead
As technology continues to transform the agricultural sector, Dames hinted that NMI remains committed to bringing more innovations in precision ag technology to the South African market. With a growing suite of advanced machinery and a focus on efficiency, NMI is positioning itself as a trusted partner for progressive farmers.
